A Brief History of Mobile Marketing

As of 2007, there were 2.4 billion SMS users worldwide. Apple released its first iPhone in the US, and QR codes were introduced to mobile marketing in 2010, ushering in a new era in marketing.

As of 2011, mobile marketing was a $14 billion global industry.

By 2014, the number of mobile phone users surpassed the number of computer users and people were using the Internet from their phones.

Today, 89% of mobile time is spent on apps, with the remaining 11% on websites. This is one reason why 71% of marketers say mobile marketing is core to their business, and 68% have integrated mobile marketing into their overall marketing strategy.

But that’s not all. The average mobile phone user spends 90 minutes per day on their phone, while US consumers spend 220 minutes per day on their phone. And that average time is increasing every day. That means there’s no easier way to reach your consumers. As long as you have a solid mobile marketing strategy in place, you can reach them whenever you want.
