Some of the most common are: Popup on click
These pop-ups are triggered once the user clicks on a particular area. A good example is when they click on the “about us” site, sometimes a menu with success stories can appear on the user’s screen.

However, you should be careful when using this pop-up, as it can sometimes distract the user from the original action they were performing, which can cause them to lose interest and leave the website.

The best way to use this type of pop-ups is when the user clicks on a spot that does not redirect to another page, as this will not interrupt their browsing and will allow them to receive the information you want to present to them.


Scheduled popup
This is the most commonly used type of pop-up, as it consists of an automatic banner that appears after the user has been on the page for a long time. The goal is to grab the user's attention and point them to something they might be missing on the page. A common practice is to trigger these pop-ups once the user spends 30 seconds without clicking on anything.

Always use this strategy carefully and use content that relates to the page's goals, such as preventing cart abandonment by offering free shipping on an e-commerce page.

You can also use scroll popups, which are owner/partner/shareholder email lists once the user scrolls to a particular page section. You can also schedule it to appear once the user stops scrolling. This will give them something extra to read and a call to action to take once they are done with the website.

The best thing you can do is to relate the content of the page to the content of the popup, increasing the conversion rate.

Exit Intent Popup
This type of popup commonly appears on pages once the platform recognizes the user hovering over the close tab button, and is intended to keep the user on the page longer.

If you want this popup to be successful, you need to offer something that will prevent the user from leaving the page. This is why it is also commonly known as a retention popup. However, achieving this goal is not easy, as you will usually have to offer a special discount or freemium content to keep the user as interested as possible.
