The changing customer journey

How do you, as a municipality, create a digital workplace?
1. Ensure commitment from top executives
It is important that there are drivers within the municipality and that this is supported by enthusiastic management. They provide direction, create enthusiasm and urgency and support their people and the change.

2. Determine a digital 'dot on the horizon'
A digital dot on the horizon is an important driver for transformation. It is important that leaders within the municipality formulate this dot clearly and can also give digitalization a place within the organizational strategy. In this way, direction and coherence are created.

However, formulating this point alone is not enough. It is important to translate the strategy into tactical and operational objectives and daily management of these. Many municipalities hire an Innovation Manager for this. This manager ensures that all new initiatives are aligned and receive the right attention.

3. Give the business a leading role
Employees are often most familiar with their own processes. They know what bottlenecks they encounter and where digital resources can support the process. Employees therefore play an important role in a digital transformation.

4. Invest in implementation
A good implementation contributes to the acceptance and ease of use of digital products/services. Employees must learn to work with other systems and communicate via 'new' channels. Knowledge of these systems and channels is essential for this. Include the employee in the process and train him or her well in the new system.

5. Work iteratively
IT projects are difficult to plan due to uncertainties in the development process and decision-making. A long lead time has the risk of being overtaken by reality. For example, by changing tasks, new digital possibilities or what also occurs regularly: a new board.

A step-by-step development method is often more suitable. This shortens the lead time per project and reduces the risks. At each step, it is important to include employees with different backgrounds and disciplines in the decision-making. This ensures the right setup and the necessary support.

Interesting cases?
In the coming period, we would like to write about the use of the above new digital resources and possibilities such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Machine Learning. For this we are looking for interesting cases. Have you seen an interesting project, or worked on it? Let us know by posting a comment below.

Any organization that starts working with a digital work environment or an intranet will sooner or later discover that there is more than one tool involved. A good digital work environment brings greece number all those tools together, in a way that really supports employees in their work.

What is a digital work environment?
A digital workplace (DWO) is where employees go to find the information, systems, and people they need to do their jobs.

The digital workspace thus provides access to all documents, videos, emails and other enterprise information available in the organization. It also helps employees to connect, collaborate and communicate with each other without necessarily being physically together. And the digital workspace also provides access to all digital systems that employees need to do their work.

You may view the target group of a DWO more broadly: partners, suppliers and even customers can also have (partial) access to the digital work environment. A digital work environment is therefore the next step in the evolution of a (social) intranet , extranet or portal. Although you can also use these 'old' terms as far as I'm concerned. After all, it's not about the name you give the beast, but about what it has to offer.
