The territory of Chile is divided into three geographical zones: continental Chile , the group of islands of volcanic origin in the South Pacific Ocean (the Juan Fernández Archipelago and the Desventuradas Islands) and in Oceania (Salas y Gómez Island and Easter Island), as well as the Chilean Antarctic Territory . Thus, it is located along a highly seismic zone due to the subduction of the Nazca and Antarctic plates into the South American plate, making it the second most seismically active country in the world, after Japan, and the fourth most exposed to major damage from natural disasters.
Chile is a unitary, democratic and presidential state with a total area of 756,102.4 km², which places it number 37 in the world ranking.
Economically, it is considered a high-income country by the mexico business mailing list Bank and a developing country by the Central Intelligence Agency, since its more than 19 million inhabitants have some of the highest rates of literacy, quality of life, economic growth, human development, life expectancy, globalization and GDP per capita in Latin America.
Agriculture is the main activity in the central and southern regions of the country, with cereals (oats, corn and wheat), fruits (peaches, pears and grapes) and vegetables (garlic, onions, asparagus and beans) being the majority products .
In terms of exports , Chile's opening to the Asian and European markets has allowed it to reach historic levels. Along with fruits and vegetables, Chile is also an exporter of forestry, mining (especially copper) and fishing resources (mostly crustaceans). On the other hand, its main imports are: fossil fuels, machinery and electrical materials.
As for trade relations between Chile and Spain, in 2020 the balance is slightly tilted towards our country, since goods worth 334 million US dollars have been exported, and we have imported products worth 281 million dollars from the Chilean country.
