The European Commission wants internet users to be able to determine in their browser settings whether they accept or refuse privacy-sensitive tracking cookies. What impact does the change in the Dutch cookie law have on online marketing and development?


The online marketing and development departments are completely different from each other and yet they (often) have to work together. What is their opinion on the cookie law and the possible change in it? And how do they deal with cookies? What are the pros and cons?

First, some background information about the different cookies that development and online marketing make extensive use of.

Functional cookies
Functional cookies are currently required to make a website work. An example of a functional cookie is the storage of the products that the visitor places in the shopping cart.
