When you know what content works for your competitors, you can use those topics to come up with ideas for your own blog posts.

In this article, I’ll share three ways to research your competitors’ content and tools.

1 – Identify the most shared content
You and your competitors are both trying to attract the same audience. If people are sharing content from your competitors’ sites, there’s a good chance they’ll share similar content from your site as well. That’s why it’s important to research what content your competitors are publishing and where they’re getting the most engagement.

Using BuzzSumo , you can type in your competitor’s domain name and the tool will instantly analyze your competitor’s blog content. You’ll end up with a table containing the number of social shares for each of their blog posts; the posts with the most shares are at the top of the list.

What do you see? To find trends, ask yourself whether a taiwan telegram data or type of media (e.g. infographics) typically gets a lot of shares. Does one social platform perform better than others for certain types of posts? Is there a platform that tends to get the most shares overall?

You can easily identify some platforms that are very popular with your competitors' audience, and if you are not currently active on those channels it is probably time to establish yourself there.
2 – Examine keyword rankings
Find out which keywords your competitors’ blog content is ranking for to give you additional content ideas. You’ll be able to write a much better article (targeting specific keywords, of course) than your competitors and take some of their traffic!

SEMRush is a great tool that lets you type in the names of your competitors and get a list of the 10 words that drive the most traffic to them.

You'll also see the average monthly search volume for a given keyword combination in the location you've specified (e.g. BR).
Think about all the possibilities. With this data, you can find popular topics and write much more detailed articles focusing on specific keywords to help you rank higher in the results.

3 – Monitor conversations on related content
One of my favorite content monitoring tools is Brand24 . It finds content from:

Blogs
Website (outside a blog)
Forums
Facebook
Twitter
Google+
Image sites

When Brand24 finds a mention, you can apply a filter to focus on conversations on certain channels (use the filters at the top of the results page).

Brand24 also allows you to analyze which influencers are sharing a competitor's content, who is sharing your content most actively, and which sites mentioning your content are most active.
I suggest setting up alerts so that you can regularly monitor conversations related to your competitors’ content. This way, you can become more active on that platform and participate in the conversation.

Researching your competitors is extremely important. When you know what’s working for them, you can create your own content around similar topics. Or you can create similar types of content, like infographics or interviews.

It takes a bit of time to find and analyze competitor performance metrics, but using the right tools makes the process easier. It’s definitely worth the effort!
