Gold price drops again: Tk 1,166 per baht

Staff Reporter: Gold prices have fallen again in the country's market. The Bangladesh Jewelers' Association (BAJUS), an organization of gold traders, has reduced the maximum price of gold by up to Tk 1,166 per baht in a span of 17 days.

Bajus announced this information in a statement on Sunday. The organization said that the new gold price will be effective from Monday (August 6). Bajus had previously reduced the price of gold on July 20.

Gold traders said the price was reduced to adjust to the domestic market due to the decline in gold prices in the international market.

According to the new prices, 22, 21 and 18 carat gold has decreased by country email list 1,166 taka per baht. However, the prices of traditional gold and silver remain unchanged.

According to Bajus, according to the new price, the price of good quality gold (11.664 grams) per bhori, that is, 22-carat gold, has been set at 47,472 taka. In addition, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at 45,198 taka and 18-carat gold has been set at 40,124 taka.

And the price of traditional gold per bahiri has been kept unchanged at 27,585 taka. The price of 21 carat silver (cadmium) per bahiri is 1,050 taka.

Gold shops across the country sold 48,638 taka per bhori of 22-carat quality gold today (August 5). 46,364 taka for 21-carat gold and 41,290 taka for 18-carat gold. 27,585 taka for a bhori of traditional gold.

BAJUS General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala said, "The price of gold in the country fluctuates with the international market. The price has decreased in the international market. Therefore, it has been decided to reduce the price in the domestic market as well to coordinate with the global market."

Earlier, on July 20 this year, Bajaus had reduced the price of gold. At that time, the price of gold in 22, 21 and 18 carats was reduced by 1,166 taka.
