In March 2022, Telegram was announced to be blocked in the country for “failing to cooperate with authorities in several countries” in attempts to remove channels that shared false information. The development team had 24 hours to contact the authorities and they succeeded, thus avoiding the blocking of the application.

In this case, the restriction on the use of Telegram was announced in July 2017, but access was restored just one month later. However, this time the application had to close several channels that were related to terrorism and other negative content.
However, there are countries where its use has been completely banned:
China: In 2015, access to Telegram Messenger was blocked in the uae number data country's app stores. The reason for the blockage, according to People's Daily (the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party), was the fact that the messaging app was used to criticize the Chinese government and the country's Communist Party.
Cuba : Due to information shared during anti-government protests, the Cuban government banned the use of Telegram in July 2021.
Iran : Despite having been operating in the country since 2015 under a VPN network, its use was finally blocked for the first time in 2016. It was not until 2018 when the block was made official for security reasons and because it had been considered "a monopoly for the country."
Pakistan : Since 2017, no one has access to this application from PTCL network (Pakistan's largest internet service provider).
Thailand: In October 2020, the Thai government asked mobile operators to block access to the app, as it was used in the pro-democracy protests in Bangkok.
