Besides, when you publish that, other journalists might read it and say, “Hey, this person talks about [whatever your topic is], I can call him for my next story.”
So if you share it on your networks, it's not so much to inflate your ego, but to increase the chances of people calling you again.
Generate (a lot of) content. I'm not talking about memes or photos from your trip, but professional content about what you want to be a reference in. Write a blog, create a newsletter, Twitter threads, LinkedIn or Facebook statuses... well, you get the idea.
That last point was what gradually led me to meet journalists, make friends with some, and one thing led to another.
Journalists have lots of WhatsApp groups where they often ask for people to interview. So if you have several friends in the media, and you specialise in a topic, it is very likely that they will recommend you when someone is looking.
