According to Pwc, 71% of people prefer to search by voice rather than typing search queries (and this data is from 2018).
Additionally, according to ComScore (2019), 51% of online shoppers in the US use voice search to choose products.
A study by GlobalWebIndex states that 27% of free russian number for whatsapp indiap the global online population uses voice search from mobile devices.
This data gives an idea of the potential of voice search , but observing what happens around us and how we are changing I think are the most important aspects to evaluate. For example, have you ever tried to save reminders and appointments using Google Assistant? Be careful, because there is no going back.
The example I gave concerns a very simple request that assistants are already " trained " to provide through cloud services offered by top players, such as multimedia control (music and entertainment), weather, routes, etc.
However, even generic searches, i.e. those that generate answers extracted from websites available online, are becoming increasingly more efficient. This aspect is particularly evident using Google Assistant : if until last year it often happened that the assistant did not know how to answer, today it is difficult to find queries of this type, without an answer.
The technological evolution we are experiencing will also lead to an expansion of the IoT (Internet of Things) world and many devices that surround us will soon be equipped with a virtual assistant with which we can communicate. Statista, in a forecast published in 2019, estimates that in 2025 we will reach 38.6 billion connected IoT devices in the world, to reach 50 billion in 2030.

This will increase interactions with assistants, strengthen the concept of Ambient Computing and potentially give a boost to voice search.
