The Beginning of the Path - An Auxiliary Engineering Tool
Work on PlantLinker began in 2015 as a connector between the above-mentioned Western solutions that were used by large industrial players when designing X technological facilities. Often, these companies had more than one Western solution, and the initial goal of the new program was to data between them.

"First, we created our own format for storing and transferring objects between the prototype of numeros de telefoni our system, Smart3D and Tekla Structures. We took this idea to the HEXAGON/Intergraph conference in Las Vegas in 2016. At the stand, we first showed the PlantLinker prototype and felt great interest in our product from conference participants from different countries, including Intergraph representatives. This inspired us a lot, and we realized that we have something to strive for. In 2018, we again took part in the HEXAGON conference in Las Vegas and noted a keen interest in our development" - Andrey Sladkovsky, PlantLinker LLC

The functionality turned out to be in demand by users, so it was decided to develop the system, first adding a viewer for industrial models, and then modeling capabilities. When creating a new CAD system, the developers focused on those organizations that already had one or two licenses, for example, Smart 3D, but buying additional workstations for all engineers was too expensive. In addition, it was planned to use PlantLinker in remote branches where there is no necessary infrastructure for reliable communication with a "heavy" system, in author's supervision groups, with contractors, in design departments of industrial enterprises and equipment suppliers.

At the same time, it was initially assumed that PlantLinker would interact with the main CAD system of the enterprise, using all the developed element bases and performing auxiliary functions. The main design tool remained the Western solution, and the new software allowed companies to add workstations for modeling without significant financial investments (one PlantLinker seat cost ten times less compared to the Western product). The new system was supposed to be compact and autonomous.

Transformation into a full-fledged Plant Design class CAD system
2022 presented a new challenge for PlantLinker developers: transforming the solution into a full-fledged industrial design CAD system, in which a project can be developed from a sketch to the working stage. In particular, this task implied the creation of an additional module for issuing design documentation (2D drawings), since such functionality was not previously provided in PlantLinker.

The 2D module was developed in the shortest possible time, and now PlantLinker is a full-fledged CAD system capable of solving all tasks related to the design and 3D modeling of industrial facilities and complex continuous-cycle process installations.
