Set your account to 'private'
When you create a new Instagram profile, all the photos, videos, and Stories you post are automatically job function email database visible to everyone. This means that even people who don't follow you can see your profile. If you want to control who sees your content, you can set your account to 'private'. You will then receive a follow request from new followers, which you can accept or decline. Here's how to make your account private:
Go to your profile and click on the hamburger menu at the top right
Go to 'Account Privacy'
Turn on 'Private account'
Even with a private account, your profile picture is always visible, so potential followers can see who you are. You can choose a more anonymous profile picture, and/or immediately uncheck that people can see a larger version of your profile picture.

Please note: the people who already followed your account can still see everything. If you want to remove accounts from your followers, you can do this (on a private or public account) in your followers list, by pressing 'remove' behind the name.
If your account is set to private, others will need to send you a follow request (which you must approve) in order to follow you. If they don't follow you, they will only be able to see your name and profile picture.
