Obligations contained in the Act

Post by mstakh.i.mo.mi »

The Act on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities was passed in 2019. Its provisions mainly covered public entities. All of these entities should adapt their websites and mobile applications to the requirements contained in the WCAG 2.1 website standard. What are these entities? The list of public entities is very wide.

The definition of public entities can be found in the Act on the National amazon database Security System. According to the provisions contained in the Act mentioned above, public entities include, among others, public authorities (including local government units), budget units, public universities, ZUS, KRUS, NFZ.

All public entities have been required to adapt their websites and mobile applications in such a way that browsing them is not difficult for people with special needs. It is important, among other things, to ensure appropriate navigation on the website, although of course the list of requirements is much broader.

There is one exception in which public entities will be exempted from introducing the changes referred to in the Act. This happens when introducing these changes would involve very large expenses that such entities cannot afford.

Do only public entities have to adapt websites and applications to WCAG 2.1?
